hi :) i was just gifted a couple of bottles of 25 year old Smirnoff -- as in, it's been sitting in someone's basement and they are afraid to drink it and i said "I'll take it!"
so, will it kill me?
i gotta couple of bottles of rum, too
what do ya think? - Miggy

Re: 25 year old Smirnoff
Tue, November 15, 2005 - 10:06 PMProgram 911 on your phone's speed-dial, get a glass...some ice...and go for it! Hell, it's not like anything was going to grow in there and vodka doesn't age...
I would get a new bottle of Smirnoff and compare the taste of the two to compare for kicks!
Have fun...and in case you go blind, learn to dial via touch :)
PS-What rums did you score? -

Re: 25 year old Smirnoff
Wed, March 1, 2006 - 11:43 PMI'd say it's safe. Bacteria won't grow in alcohol, so nothing will kill you. But unlike scotch, cognac and wine, there's also nothing about vodka that will change its taste over time. So I imagine a 25 year old bottle of Smirnoff would taste like it would have 25 years ago. Which I hope is better than what a modern-day bottle would taste like. ;)
