Re: Favorite Brand
Mon, January 9, 2006 - 12:42 PMI know a lot of people have "issues" but I love Skyy. I really do find it smooth, and it's a San Francisco company...and being a native....
I'm finding a taste for Grey Goose too. I really do like a vodka that I can enjoy without the "hangover, dog mouth feeling" the next morning. -

Mon, January 9, 2006 - 4:32 PMyou guys should definately try rain. it's sooo good & i never get a hangover. -
-
Re: Favorite Brand
Mon, January 9, 2006 - 6:11 PMYou definately sold me on the Rain. It's good stuff, I just wish more bars carried it. Definately haven't had a hangover with the stuff, but Vox is still my favorite! No hangovers with it either & some bars have it, so if you drink it before you go out you don't have to mix it with other vodkas, which usually leads to a hangover. -

Re: Favorite Brand
Sat, January 14, 2006 - 9:40 PMI went to a liquor store a couple months ago and someone was handing out samples of a new brand called Indio. It's made here in OR and not bad. They had a berry flavor and lemon and plain. On to the subject of flavored vodkas!! What do we think of them? -

Re: Favorite Brand
Thu, February 2, 2006 - 12:21 AMunder normal situations, Goose because it is more or less easy to find.
But my new ultimate favorite right now is Zyr. I just discovered it in Las Vegas, but only a few places distribute it so far. If you get a chance to try it, it is definately worth it!
Yummmm! -

Re: Favorite Brand
Wed, March 1, 2006 - 11:38 PMIn the US, Grey Goose is pretty good.
Pyatizvezdnaya (Liviz distillery in St. Petersburg, Russia) is far and above the best. They also make Sinopskaya and Sankt Peterburg which are also fantastic.
But I only drink vodka straight. If I want a mixed drink I'll go for rum and coke or a margarita.

Re: Favorite Brand
Thu, November 9, 2006 - 1:32 PMI really like Chopin, but it is a tad expensive. When $ is an issue, Tito's from Trader Joes is a very good substitute at about 1/2 the price. -

Re: Favorite Brand
Sun, January 7, 2007 - 4:31 PMHad a bartender offer me Hanger 1 the other night. Didn't know what it was, so he gave me a free drink made with it. Pretty good. I ordered it for the rest of the night. He hooked me up on the pours. -

Re: Favorite Brand
Wed, February 14, 2007 - 8:47 AMNow don’t think I am that picky I will drink grey or any other high end non-potato vodka but if I am going to buy bottles 90% of the time I need a potato vodka I am a traditionalist when it comes to this by my taste buds. I just love the flavor.
Basically for those that don’t know the higher quality it is the less Congeners (impurities) there are which means less chance of a hangover… Who likes hangovers? lol

Re: Favorite Brand
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 7:12 PMHas anyone tried Balinoff yet? My favorites are still Stoli and Grey Goose (I just can't choose between them), but Balinoff is a much cheaper alternative to both. A friend, who is a bartender, turned me on to it a few months ago. It's a French wheat-based vodka, distilled seven times and filtered three. I put it at 90% as good as Stoli or Goose, but it only costs half as much. The main problem has been finding it, since it doesn't seem to be widely distributed. It may be that there's just not a lot of it exported, since it supposedly is only made in small batches. I'd like to hear what anyone else who has tried it thinks about it.

Re: Favorite Brand
Mon, April 16, 2007 - 11:56 AMwas a big ketel one fan till I found the goose. I haven't splurged on the really premium ones like chopin though, I'm afraid it will make me too much of a snob.
BTW, think you know your Vodka? I made a quiz all about it! This isn't a gimmick, just something fun for vodka lovers. No registration or any bs, just a fun (maybe humbling) quiz. Don't cheat!

Thanks.

Re: Favorite Brand
Sun, June 15, 2008 - 10:27 AMI don't have one favorite brand. I think that Grey Goose is the most highly overrated brand on the market.
I like Monopolowa (because it's cheap for a premium brand)
Thor's Hammer (clean, very smooth)
Belvedere (great for martinis), Chopin (ditto)
Having a favorite brand of Vodka would be like having a favorite type of wine.
