Absolut is terrible vodka in a fancy, well-marketed label. Anyone agree?

I don't care much for it, though the Currant flavor is pretty tasty when mixed with tonic water.

Agree for well marketed, i luv these bottles...But it tastes quite medium fo mee, it's a good everyday vodka (speakin about classic one)but not an exceptionnal one

I agree. Absolute is a great marketing company that happens to make poor quality vodka.

I don't think it ranks as being a "Terrible" vodka...there is much, much, MUCH worse out there.
I would have to say it is a Medium type vodka that is very clever with it's marketing.....
I like the Vanilla and Currant flavored Absolut somewhat and if it is the ONLY vodka available to drink? Say in a Screwdriver or Scarlet O'Hara
But give me my Grey Goose or Stoli's anyday :)

Absolut is more than passable with soda water, but I will not drink it straight up on ice. Grey Goose is my favorite vodka to sip over ice.

Absolut is an average Vodka. Slightly better than Skyy, not nearly as good as Stoli (which are pretty much the top 3 selling premium vodkas if I am not mistaken, the slightly cheaper Skyy bordering between call and premium depending on where you go). I used to like the Currant in cranberry, but don't care for it much anymore. Absolut Vanilla is a joke when compared to Stoli Vanil, but is much better than the chemical tasting Skyy Vanilla. Absolute Manderin is good with cranberry I think, but in OJ you pretty much lose any vodka flavor.

I tend to prefer the taste of Skyy to Absolut, but I definitely agree with you on the ranking of vanilla flavored vodkas.

Skyy vs Absolut is a tricky one. I liked Skyy better when it first came out in the early 90's. After awhile my preference switched back to Absolut though, not sure why. Skyy claims to have less impurities than any other leading vodka, followed by Absolut, then Stoli. Stoli still tastes better I say. As far as vanilla goes, I hate to say it, but I prefer Smirnoff vanilla, and even Seagram's vanilla vodka to Skyy vanilla.

I'm a stoli girl at home, but grey goose or belvedere is always appreciated.

Belvedere and Grey Goose are like the Solid Gold Dancers dancing accross my tongue. OH, the sweet sweet nectar of life!

absolut peppar is not a bad bloody mary mixer, but stoli is the best. i traveled all the way from germany to florida with a bottle of stoli for a gift, the trip from hell (took three days, engine trouble, lost passports, flu, etc) and when i gave it to my step-father, he refused to give me a shot! that was when i knew i would hate him through eternity.

Lance, you've just GOT TO find yourself some Ciroc!

I suppose this is asking for trouble after reading the thread here, but I going to admit that ... I do not care much for Stoli. In fact, I truly believe it's also a highly marketed but rather uninspired beverage. It's sort of acceptable if mixed, though. [There, I said it!!]

What vodkas I do like? Ciroc, Belvedere, Grey Goose, Hangar One, and Ketel One, pretty much in that order. Oh, yeah, and for mixed drinks at parties, Skky WILL protect you from that I-just-wish-someone-would-shoot-me hangover. You might still feel like shit, but not like you wish you were dead.

Oh, one more I forgot: Zybrowka. Yum!!

finally someone on this site i can agree with. i keep reading all this info on stoli, absolut, and grey goose... this is "vodka connoiseurs" tribe, lets get some quality listed here. ciroc is one of the best as for flavor right now, rain is also leading as the top american produced vodka. jewel of russia ultra is overpriced, but definately tasty.

stoli is about as low as ill go on the vodka scale, ill grant that they do have some nice infusions but if i wanted infused vodkas, ill take hanger one and van gogh above all else. absolut is crap, and skyy somehow is worse. pure ethanol tastes better then smirnoff and popov i wouldnt wash my feet with.

Except for the lime, I can't deal with Hanger One, it has the most awful taste...although I would drink that before absolute. I believe I tried Ciroc once and wasn't too fond of it but I tried a bunch of different vodkas that night. I've been told by others that it's good.....we'll see. I'll try it tonight and see if I like it.

hahahah...Popov! Oh god, I had to work hard to hold down my lunch after thinking about what that crap tastes like.

I agree, absolut is rubbing alcohol, for that price category I go with Skyy.

Okay, I experienced Grey Goose last night, and it was gooooooood. Had it in a martini, actually, two martinis, and I gotta say, if it had been Absolut or Stoli, I KNOW I'd have been a lot more plowed than I was.
